CSA Members in the News

We wanted to take the opportunity in this newsletter to acknowledge the outstanding achievements of our members. Below are some notable achievements of our membership. It is not exhaustive, and all members are encouraged to inform the CSA of achievements over the year so they can be shared with our surgical community.

Anees Chagpar, MD, MSc, MPH, MA
Yale University
New Haven, CT

Dr. Chagpar won a Giambalvo award to create a virtual Negotiations course for women to try to get at gender equity in the workplace. Capped at 100 people, they had over 3.8k applicants in less than a week! The courses were a huge success with participants stating that afterwards they had more confidence, and were able to negotiate with their Chairs for what they wanted and to grow the pie. She has now made a sustainable virtual negotiations course to offer this to more people. Learn more about the course here. Read the press release and another relevant article about the grant.

Sherif Emil, MD, CM, FACS, FRCSC, FAAP

"Clinical Pediatric Surgery: A Case-Based Interactive Approach" was recently published by Taylor and Francis-CRC Press. This book, written Dr. Sherif Emil, MD, CM, FACS, FRCSC, FAAP is one of the few single-authored textbooks in the surgical field. It is a comprehensive surgical textbook which presents the field of pediatric surgery in a unique and innovative case-based approach. Read the press release.
